Windows Live Beta - First Post
So I downloaded Windows Live Writer this morning - pretty cool stuff because it's a WYSIWYG editor.
I did a SHIFT-PrtScrn to capture the help->about, then just control-v'ed it right in place:
[OOPS]
Windows Live Beta available here:

Oh yeah - Windows Live Writer integration with blogger.com is a little painful - you gotta have a plain FTP server for image upload - sftp is not supported yet.

Garmin GPS
This http://www.garmin.com/yao/content/media.html is not a particularly inspiring commercial to me. But a buddy bought one and I got tot see it first hand - and as a result I bought one.
I do a fair amount of travel now to lots of different places. I stick this to the windshield and is Just Works. It's loud enuf, clear enuf, and amazingly reasonably accurate. 5 stars.

Sun Ray Multihead ROCKS

Sun Rays are so cool. After two emails with my great Engineer Friend at Sun and maybe 10 minutes total, we got multihead groups up and running with rdesktop 1.4.1 (huge props to Scott for showing me the way). This is so badd azz that I will be doing this at home.

That Hour Glass Figure

New to the Charlotte CIO Forum in 2005 is that Hour Glass figure! I have NO idea what is going on here - suspect that it is some spookie name resolution timeout deal, but for the first time in my brief experience with Sun Ray, I am getting this Hour Glass which seems to last from 5 seconds to sometimes an amazing 30 seconds before users can type in. Perhaps related to this was the fact that my Solaris 10 x86 server was going mad (hd thrashing) with I traced to an Xorg process I suspect was really unhappy with the graphics terminal I had connected. It's that stock W2100z with the dual display vid card conencted up to a Sun digital flat panel - I can't image why that doesn't "just work"...

Action Required

In other news - we did a trade show in Charlotte where we set up these Sun Rays in "authentic" mode (maybe I should start calling it "legacy mode?" At any rate, one of these days I am going to get to the bottom of this love note I get from time to time.

The One that Got Away

GM is running that Employee Discount for All program in June. This is the truck I was seriously considering. The sticker price on this is 48k. The employee discount pricing on this is 37,400 - a substantial discount almost too good to turn down... Almost...
